When using your computer keyboard (Settings > Keyboard > Use QWERTY keyboard) or a MIDI keyboard, Orchid V allows for custom key mapping. This gives you complete freedom to fully customize your setup.
QWERTY keyboards
To use your computer keyboard to play Orchid V go to Settings > Keyboard > Use QWERTY keyboard.
To customize your keyboard, press ⌘ + K (macOS) or Ctrl + K (Windows). Click any chord button, key or row, then press the key you'd like it assigned to. The newly assigned key will then show.
The default key mapping follows Ableton:
| Keys | Play |
|---|---|
| A W S E D F T G Y H U J | C up to B |
| K O L P ; ' | C up to F, one octave higher |
| Z / X | Octave down / up |
| 1 2 3 4 | Dim, Min, Maj, Sus pads |
| 5 6 7 8 | 6, m7, M7, 9 pads |
Already have an Orchid, and want to set up Orchid V in the same way? The key mapping suggestions below will assign your QWERTY keyboard to play and feel similar to Orchid's layout:
