The Options Menu (accessed via the Options Dial) is the control center for customizing your Orchid's behavior. Here is a full overview of the settings you'll find, as of the v3.90 firmware for your Orchid:
System
- View: Change what's shown on the display as you play notes and chords. Choose from a simple chord notation, a list of notes, a reactive waveform, a visual keyboard, or the popular "Geek Out" mode which shows the chord, notes, and keyboard all at once.
- Battery: View your Orchid's current battery level.
- Auto Power Off: Set Orchid to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity, 30 minutes, or never.
- Version: Displays the current firmware version.
Instrument
- Play Style: Tailor how the chord buttons respond. (See this article for more details)
- Secret Chords: Enable Secret Chords in the Simple Play Style only, all Play Styles, or turn them OFF. When this setting is enabled, certain combinations of the Chord Type and/or Extension buttons will create additional chords beyond the Orchid's standard Dim, Min, Maj, and Sus ones.
- Single notes: Enable your keyboard to remain within one octave or split between two octaves, as shown on the display. Clicking the Chord Voicing Dial will also switch between settings.
- Extension Addition: Select Add Note if you'd like only the chord extension(s) to be triggered while the existing notes of the chord continue to sustain, or Play Chord to re-trigger the entire chord with the extension(s) added in.
- Quantization: Enable quantization in loops for 1/4 notes, 1/8 notes, 1/8 (triplet) notes, 1/16 notes, 1/16 (triplet) notes, or 1/32 notes.
- Velocity Sense: Turn keyboard velocity sensitivity On if you want notes to play louder the harder you press the keys, or Off for all notes to play at the same volume. (Note: Not all preset sounds are currently velocity-sensitive)
Bass
Enable bass to play:
- With chords only;
- Unison;
- Bass single notes; or
- Solo
Audio and MIDI
- Audio Output: Set the audio output to Auto (which detects if your headphone jack is in use to activate/deactivate the speakers), Headphones only, Speakers only, or Both.
- MIDI Channels: Assign separate MIDI input channels on your Orchid for the Performed notes, raw Chords, and Bass notes, enabling more customisation when recording into a DAW. Or turn off individual channels.
- Volumes: Access independent volumes for Master, Bass and Drums.
- Metronome Click: Select either Beep or Hi Hat for the metronome sound.
