The Play Style setting (found in Options > Instrument > Play Style) changes how the Chord Type buttons (Dim, Min, Maj, Sus) interact with the keyboard, allowing you to tailor the Orchid to your performance needs.
- Simple: This is the most straightforward mode. You must press and hold a Chord Type button before you press a key to play a chord. The chord will sustain as long as you hold the key, even if you release the Chord Type button. You cannot change the chord type (e.g., from Major to Minor) without releasing the key first.
- Advanced: This mode offers more flexibility. You can press a key to play a single note, and then press a Chord Type button while the key is still held to trigger the chord.
- Free: This is the most dynamic mode. It behaves just like Advanced Mode, but with one key difference: chords can be switched or re-triggered repeatedly after releasing either the Chord Type button or Key.
Note: In Advanced and Free modes, Extension Addition (Options > Instrument > Extension Addition) enables you to play either the extension note or the entire chord when adding chord extensions to sounding chords.
