On the left-hand side of the Orchid are the chord modifier buttons. And on the bottom row are Chord Extensions. These buttons will add notes when chords are played – either when you are using the top row of Chord Type buttons, or when you are playing the keyboard in Key mode.
To start using the extensions:
- Hold a Chord Type button (in the top row), along with a Chord Extension button (in the bottom row), before pressing a note on the keyboard.
- Example: Hold Maj and M7 buttons, then press C to play a CMaj7 chord (also notated as C7).
- Each Chord Extension adds new layers to the base chord, expanding harmonic possibilities.
- Try adding multiple extensions at once for complex chord voicings.
- Watch out for too much Jazz.
- Note that Extensions are only intended to work when you are playing a chord. You can’t play Extensions by themselves.
