By default, when Orchid is connected, turning the Sound dial to change a patch will update the active patch on every instance of Pistil in your DAW project simultaneously. This is useful when you're working with a single instance, but in more complex projects with multiple Pistil instances, each loaded with a different patch for different parts, it can cause unintended changes across all of them at once.
The Desync feature lets you disable individual Pistil instances from receiving CC or SysEx messages while continuing to receive MIDI notes, ensuring these instances of your plugin are exempt from Sound dial changes on Orchid.
- Open the Pistil instance you want to desync. In your DAW, open the Pistil plugin UI for the specific instance whose patch you want to protect. When Orchid is connected, you will see an Orchid Connected status with a green LED in the plugin UI.
- Click the green LED to desync. Click the green LED next to the Orchid Connected status. The LED will turn gray and the status will update to Orchid Desynced. This instance's patch is now locked; turning the Sound dial on Orchid will no longer affect it.
- Repeat for any other instances you want to desync. Open each additional Pistil instance you want to protect and repeat Step 2. You can desync as many instances as you like; only instances left in the Orchid Connected state will respond to Sound dial changes.
